Throwing Shadows

Over the weekend I continued getting the physics of the game feeling good and also integrated localization into the game’s in-world usable items. I don’t intend to localize the game this soon, but getting the system integrated from the beginning is so much easier than going back and adding it later!
Other than that I’ve worked on the player controller - letting them crouch (ready to explore all those enticing vents!) and also tuning how they bump into physical objects. I’ve added collision sound effects and a background music player that sometimes comes into play adding moody ambiance to the scene. I’ve stopped doors from closing on objects you’ve put in their way and I tuned the UX feedback for how quickly your stats are draining and how you can interact with the thing you’re looking at.
Most recently (this morning!), I’ve been getting to grips with Unity’s lighting system’s strengths and weaknesses, so that as I continue to build the demo level I know what I can and can’t achieve with lighting.
Phew! Quite a lot done, but much more to do. Getting back to it now!
