The first work in progress environment grey-box

A lot I’ve worked on this past month has not necessarily been the most important thing right this second, but I wanted to make sure that I can do all of the non-programming art bits since I come from a coding background. That’s why I’ve been working on shaders, fonts, models and then with the player arms rigging and animation.

The next big unknown for me was level design and so, sure enough, that’s what I’ve been working on since my last post! Now I’ve gotten used to the tools I can whizz around building out my grey box environment; a rough sketch of the general layout of the level that’s quick to change but also representative of the final level so the gameplay can be accurately tested.

This has been great fun, because I’ve gotten to jump back and forth between building the level and coding the necessary gameplay features. Here’s a video of me running around with my trusty flashlight and needing to charge my battery!
