This week I’ve been working on a lot of the technical foundation for the game to come, stuff like save/load UX and standardized menus including sound across the game.

The most interesting part of the week by far though has been starting to lay out all of the raw information about what each area will contain, as well as creating some of the models for “grey-boxing” the game. Grey-boxing means making a bunch of simple lego-like pieces and roughly sketching the game environment so you can run around it and find out if it’s actually fun!

I’m super excited about this step because in an exploration-survival game the environment is the star of the show. Can’t wait to share more soon!
